Brisa from Mexico

Hello Brisa, nice to meet you. Please tell us a bit more about you and your life. And what are your interests?

Hi, I'm Brisa and I love to enjoy all the beautiful landscapes that mother earth gives us.  I also enjoy being with my friends and my boyfriend, I enjoy going to concerts, reading, listening to music, playing sports, and what better than playing sports in nature.
I am very interested in all the issues of environmental care, land protection and people's health, I am interested in issues of social struggle, such as those of feminism, also the LGBTQ+ movement, justice for migrants, among others...

The General Comment No. 26 has been in force since September 2023. How important is it for your work?
The actions we have been implementing are in line with the rights raised in General Comment n°26, such as the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, the right to health and the right to rest and play.

What are the most important issues for children related to the environment and climate change in your community/country/region?

In my region, the most important themes include care for the environment, protection of endemic species, care for water, land, reforestation and its follow-up.

Can you share an outstanding activity for children and young people that is being carried out in your community or country to help or protect the environment?

Together with the Monica Gendreau Fund, more than 1200 trees have been planted in the area of San Pedro Atlixco, with the help of people from the same community, adults, children, young people and local authorities.

You are working quite hard to protect your environment! Do you also have a personal dream?

Yes, I would like more people to join in these activities in favour of the environment, so that there is a greater impact, and also so that together we can demand policies and actions that penalise those companies that contribute to climate change. All this in order to stop the huge growth of climate change.
